Hotels: We used www.priceline.co.uk to "bid" a price we were prepared to pay. We ended up getting the 4* Millenium Broadway for £106 prpn. Excellent location, 44th st and Broadway, right by Times Square. Most comfortable bed ever tried, and nice hotel generally.

General: Taxi taxi taxi, They are cheap and there is plenty of them. DO NOT USE mincab type drivers at the airport when you arrive, I know someone who was charged $200 to get to the centre from JFK when it only costs $35 in a yellow cab - Always use a yellow cab! you wont need a hire car and probably wiont beable to drive anywhere anyway!
Hotels: We stayed at the southgate towers, which is an all suite accomodation hotel. The hotel was in an excellent location, opposite madison square gardens and penn station and only a few minutes walk to the famous macys department store.the hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful.the rooms were very spacious, separate kitchen area with huge fridge and a microwave, cooker etc...
Entertainment: Empire state at night is a must..the views are amazing!! but be warned expect to queue a bit longer than normal due to extra security and extra screening of your bags etc.. cost is usd11.00 to go up to the observation deck on the 86th floor , also try Statue of Liberty,
Did try to presuade the other half to check the museums out, but he just laughed!
We did Phantom of the opera and it was fantastic, got half price tickets from the Times square booth , but had to que for an hour, but everyone is friendly...
If you get luck you can see the signing Cowboy!, Thats right girsl stripped down gorgeous guys with a cowboy hat and boots, and i got my picture taken.. and all i had to do was put a few dollors in his boots.. No where else to put it!!! He is at Times square as well
Went to a few clubs but the best place was the Hudson Bar in the Hudson Hotel... they serve fantastic cocktails!!!

Hotels: Stayed at the Crowne plaza Times Square, really central and easy to get all over Manhatten!
Entertainment: Loads of really cool bars and restuarants ,but the best is 60 Thomson , great Asian food - just like Hakkasan in London, and they have a fantastic Roof terrace. Also the Hudson is a great place to start the night out, and you will always see some gorgeous women here!!! A good place to move onto was in the meat packing disctrict, you just walk from one bar to the next.. having fun all the way..
But be warned they require Id at alot of the bars.. and we got refused at a few places on our first night ...
Loads of Indians, and some great indian club nights, but they usually are a bit underground, our taxi driver Jag's told us where the 'best indian party was on the Sat' It was hilarious... but some cute girls!

Stayed at the Marriot Crowne Plaza Times Square, great hotel to base yourself out off!
Cool bars to start out are the whiskey bar, a basement club, near times square. Also the majestics bar, but the best of the best is the Hudson Bar in the Hudson Hotel.. a stunning place with some gorgeous ladies... who just luv the English accent!
Shopping: 5th Avenue is a great place, and if you head over to the university area some great stalls with books and local art.. great way to chill and spend an afternoon.
For anything photographic or digital go to a place called B & H photography its mod town, but you will find everything and then some at fantastic prices.

For that all important shopping trip, try out Macy's & Blooming dales. but for that bargain their is an outlet mall in New Jersey! Spent all day there and came back a happy bunny!! Can get a coach to pick you up from the hotel or taxi.. well worth it girls!
Great place to eat whilst shoping on 5th ave is 'Zoes' on princes st and 5th ave... delicious range of food... just writing this makes me want to go back..
Plus once you have finished you can stroll down to the Apple store opposite..
Oh My God! I couldn't drag the other half out of that place...

General: Wow what a place, you have to do the usual sightseeing stuff. but u must chill out in the Soho , greenwich village area.. its wicked. Especially if you love people watching as we do!
In the evening we chilled out in the meat packing district.
was expecting old warehouses but some real funky bars and clubs..
you cant miss them there just walking distance from each other.
Ps take some ID, as on our first night the wouldn't let my girlfriend in! saying she didn't look old enough! I wish...

Hotels: Don't Stay at the Paramount, we made the mistake of booking their, It was terrible. You check in and the lobby and lounge bar looks brillant, candles everywhere, styleish decor. We got to our room, and you could barely move, there was no where to hang our clothes or put a suitcase, let alone two!
The bathroom was a joke, it was the size of a shower cubicle!
You almost had to wonder where to put the Toothbrush..
UH....
Great city but bad hotel to stay at..
